This is a 9 ½” x 12 ½” photo album that contains 52 pages of archival, hand-torn black paper, and is interspersed with archival vellum paper to protect photos. It will hold 150-200 4 × 6 photos. (If you use other size photos, like the old-timey square ones or smaller, then you can fit even more!) We provide you with plenty of photo mounting corners so that you can mount them however you please!
This book has an antique icebox hinge closure, which makes it very unique. I cut a sliver out of the hinge to turn it into a hasp/clasp. These hinges date back to the late 1800’s to early 1900’s when iceboxes were quite common. The padlocks that I use are antiques from India (American padlocks of the same era have a much more industrial look…India made them with a bit more flair) , and all of them come with a beautiful key attached. These are actual working locks, and yet I recommend that you treat them more as decoration because of their age.
